
Dr. Shimer grew up in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended college at University of Notre
Dame and attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas for both
medical school and residency training. He then was in private practice
for 4 years in North Carolina prior to coming to Texas. While in North
Carolina, he was also involved with teaching residents at University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was a clinical instructor.
Dr. Shimer returned
to Texas in 2001 where he started Craig Ranch OB-GYN which is now a very
busy practice located in McKinney, Texas. He has become one of the
leaders in Dallas with in-office procedures including the endometrial
ablation performed for heavy menstrual cycles and the
Adiana procedure
performed for permananent sterilization. He served on the Advisory
Board for Hologic to assist in the development of the latest
Novasure
endometrial ablation device and was one of the first physicians in the
country performing the
Adiana procedure.
Dr. Shimer and his
family reside in Frisco, Texas and spend significant time in the summer
at Cedar Creek Lake. He has recently opened a satellite office in
Mabank to bring his expertise on in-office procedures to the area.
